The First Week in 50 Square Feet

OK, so don't expect any regularity to our posting ...

1 1/2 weeks at the cottage, getting it set up and ready to go for when we return in August.  No mice problems. No fallen trees. Boats started.  Good things come in threes.

We've been driving for 4 days in a (Thanks to Mom and Tom) luxurious fully-equipped 1992 VW Westfalia.  Two storey, two double beds, sink, fridge, double burner stove, BBQ, and wind-down air-conditioning.  Of course our second day of driving was 30C ... hot day.

Great hospitality on a quick over night stop in Montreal at Peter and Karin's ... a little petanque in Riviere-du-Loup ...

... an overnight in Fredricton with Renee Bellevance and her parents before we managed to get in a quick tour of Hopewell Rocks and the tidal bore in New Brunswick.  Then onto Shediac, NB for the 66th annual Lobster Festival.  Ted came last in the lobster eating contest, but came home with two extra lobsters ... good times.

Lastly (or hopefully lastly), before we get on the ferry to Newfoundland tomorrow, the engine overheated today and Ted knowingly and stupidly opened the coolant, burnt his arm, completely soaked the van and the neighbouring car that was in the traffic jam in coolant.  Belinda however was very cool and has yet to start the hassling.  The day ended ok thanks to the help of a rough-as cigar smokin' trucker who got us driving again and an all-too-friendly Bill, who followed us to the mechanic.  Quick stop tomorrow morning at the VW dealer in Sydney, NS before the ferry crossing.

Tales from The Rock to come ...
